Dan Roam Roam Explains the 10-Page Pitch Template - YouTube . Express: Watch from 8:10 to 13:40
1. Title Page
Pitch a WHO & WHY title. (Clarity)
For a good title, just state who you’re talking to and what you’re talking about:
- Keep it to a single sentence that contains a who (your audience), a what (the benefit they want), and a verb (the action they want to take).
- Remember: it isn’t about you:
- In a persuasive pitch the who in the title isn’t you; it’s your audience. Make sure they can see themselves in your title.
- The what in your title isn’t the product or feature you’re hoping to sell; it’s the positive outcome your audience will receive from taking the action you suggest. Make sure they can clearly see a benefit that matters to them.
Title page fill-in-the-blanks:
- Who is your target audience for this presentation? "My target audience is: _(insert name, group, role, demographic, etc.)__."
- What is the #1 payoff your target audience wants in the topic you’re presenting? "My target audience really wants to _(insert a verb that describes what your audience wants to accomplish.)__."
- What do you want your audience to do once they have heard your pitch? "I want them to _(insert the action you want them to take.)____."
2. Common Ground
Establish an authentic connection to your audience and the issues that concern them. Show them you know them, for real. (Trust)
This is your opportunity to introduce yourself by showing that you have real knowledge of and empathy for your audience’s realities, their objectives, and their hopes.
“Our Common Ground” trigger phrase: We’re in this together and we know these things are true...
“Our Common Ground” fill-in-the-blanks:
- What is the common ground we all share right now? What do you and your audience share in your work, your life, or your situation? "Our common ground is: _(What do we have in common; what do we share?)__."
- What do you know about your audience that they don't know that you know? "Something I know about my audience that they don’t know I know is: (What is a goal, opportunity, or challenge they face that might not be obvious to you – or even to them?."
- What is an experience that you've had that you believe your audience has also had? "Something that I suspect we’ve both experienced is: _(Write down a memorable experience that you believe you’ve both shared.)__.

5. False Hope
Admit that the hoped-for simple solution won’t really work at all. (Sobering reality)
